    General Lighting

    What is a Lumen

A Lumen specification is the measurement of the overall light output. A Lumen rating is the average brightness and intensity in all directions. Generally, Lumens are referred to as the total amount of light emitted from the LED as measured in an integrating sphere.

STKR® with Lumen Tech LEDs rates each product's overall light output, or brightness, in Lumens.

For more information about lumens, check out our article titled "How Many Lumens Do You Need for a Work Light?"

    What are Lumen Tech LEDs

Not all Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are created equal. At STKR® we use Lumen Tech LEDs in all our products. Lumen Tech™s daylight white LEDs combine the most intense light output in combination with a wide viewing angle. This provides STKR products with a crisp bright white light that illuminates a large surface area making STKR the most versatile task lights.

Lumen Tech LEDs for STKR products have been developed to deliver the best technical performance.

STKR products have been designed and engineered to deliver to our professional customers innovation, technology, and the best functionality.

    Are more LEDs better?

Competitors tend to win over their customers with sheer amount of low-grade LEDs in their products. More LEDs are not better when inferior LEDs are being used. Did you know that more LEDs use more power and drain batteries more quickly?

Inferior LEDs often claim big millicandella (typically listed as MCD) specification numbers, but MCDs specifications are only half the story. The true total brightness of a task light takes into account the viewing angle of the LED. Inferior LEDs produce a very focused small light dot on the work surface or area, even when using over 20 LEDs. This is not the type of LED that should be used in a task light, that is why Striker only uses Lumen Tech LEDs.

High-quality Lumen Tech LEDs are a combination of light intensity and a wide viewing angle.

    Mobile Task Light shop image

    Mobile Task Light

    Instruction Sheet PDF
How long does the Mobile Task Light hold a charge on High/Low?

The Mobile Task Light will operate on high blinding you with 1200 lumens of light for approx. 1.25 hrs.

If you need longer run times mellow the Mobile Task Light out with the Low mode. Don't let the word "Low" deceive you. The Mobile Task Light is never truly mellow. Low still burns retinas with 300 lumens for approx. 7.5 hrs!

Run times are dependent on the outside ambient temperature (yep, temps affect LEDs).

Does the Mobile Task Light go dim when the battery is low?

The Mobile Task Light is designed to run at full brightness until the Lithium battery falls below operating levels. This ensures you get full brightness the entire time it is running, unlike entry-level flashlights that only operate at full brightness for a few minutes, then slowly dim to nothing.

How many lumens does the Mobile Task Light emit on High/Low?

Put on your sunglasses when you turn The Mobile Task Light on HIGH as it will be tossing 1200 lumens into your eye holes! For those of you who aren't impressed by the word lumens and twelve hundreds of them, just go stare at the sun...it’s kind of like that (please don't really do that). Low is a romantic 300 lumens. Get ready to Netflix and chill... Wait no! 300 lumens is still crazy bright. Most flashlights are well below that. We designed The Mobile Task Light Low setting to produce 300 lumens. Are we crazy...or are we bright? It is up to you to decide. Please be kind :)

How long does it take the Mobile Task Light to charge?

The Mobile Task Light will take approx. 4 hrs. to charge from 0% battery to 100% battery with a 2 amp USB charger. 2 amps is the max we recommend feeding the Mobile Task Light. A charger block, computer, laptop, car charger, etc. with less amps will work fine but take a little longer.

Can the Mobile Task Light be used while charging?

Give the Mobile Task Light a tail by plugging in that USB cable and feed him/her (you determine your Mobile Task Light's sex when you get it). If you need longer run times, just plug the Mobile Task Light into a USB charger. Performance, when plugged in, varies due to the different amp outputs of different chargers. 2-amp chargers are the max you should feed the Mobile Task Light.

Is the Mobile Task Light waterproof?

The Mobile Task Light loves long walks on the beach, even if it is raining...just don't take it swimming. It never was much for the doggy paddle, plus it will die a sad drowning death. The Mobile Task Light has a waterproof rating of IP65, which means it is water resistant, but not totally waterproof. If using in wet conditions, just be sure to keep the USB charging plug well sealed, and whatever you do, DON'T plug it in (or use it plugged in) while wet or raining. The brightness of the Mobile Task Light is shocking, but that is the only part we want to be doing the shocking.

Can I change the Mobile Task Light batteries?

The Mobile Task Light is powered by hard-wired dual-lithium batteries. Although Lithium batteries are wonderful and last a long time, all lithium batteries get tired of charging and discharging eventually. For those who nerd out on batteries, there are 2 2000 mAh 18650 hard-wired in parallel. If that means anything to you then yes, when the batteries start to get tired of charging and discharging, then you can perform open heart surgery on your Mobile Task Light and solder in some fresh 18650s (don't exceed 2000mAh). For those of you who aren't so impressed by battery talk, you shouldn't need to worry about this. Just be sure and charge or discharge (use the light) your Mobile Task Light at least every 6 months to prolong the life of your batteries.

    Magnetic Light Mine shop image

    Magnetic Light Mine

    Instruction Sheet PDF
Why won't my MLM turn on?

The switch on the Light Mine can stick when first being used, so I would first like to make sure that you have it completely pushed over to the “ON” side. Sometimes the switch needs to be pushed over hard, using the butt of your thumb. The switch can click once but needs to click over a little farther to stay on.

Can I change the batteries for the Magnet Light Mine?

While it is possible to change the batteries in the Magnetic Light Mine, please be very careful. Replacing the batteries does run the possibility of damaging the whole unit. Although, if done with care, there should not be an issue.

Pressing on the locking tabs with a flat-head screwdriver will open the body. Pressing too hard will snap/break the locking tab and/or tab receiver, this is the difficult part so be very careful.

The batteries are LR44 alkaline. Silver oxide equivalents (SR44) can be used but do not mix alkaline batteries with silver oxide batteries. (Silver Oxide batteries will last longer but the initial brightness of the LED will be less) When removing the batteries, you will notice they are shrink-wrapped. Your replacement batteries will need to be isolated as well.  Clear packaging or electrical tape works well, just leave the ends exposed for the electrical contacts. (Please dispose of batteries properly)

    My tail switch isn't working

Make sure the lock rings are tightened down all the way.

Inside the switch is a small aluminum lock ring with two small holes used for tightening the lock ring. If this ring is not tightened down completely the switch may not work consistently or even at all. We suggest using a ballpoint pen, a paper clip, or other small pointed utensil to tighten this ring, twisting the ring clockwise until it is tightened and no longer moves. This should correct the issue and allow the switch to operate properly.

Why is my parking sensor not detecting my car when I pull in and out of my garage?

Be sure there are no obstructions to either side of the bottom sensor on your unit. The sonic pulses come out in a cone shape and could be catching a surrounding object to focus on instead of the vehicle.

Garage Parking Sensor - sensor location

How long should my batteries last?

With typical use (twice a day) they should last 4-5 months.

How do I reset my distance?

Park your car in the desired location, press and hold the red “set distance” button for 5 seconds and once released the unit will turn red indicating that it has remembered your distance.

Why is my Parking Sensor flashing yellow?

This is an indicator that the batteries need to be changed.

What is the difference between the Grey Sensor and White Sensor?

The main difference is the distance that is measured. The white Sensor measure 1 foot to 4 feet. While the Grey Sensor measures 6 inches to 6 feet. The Grey Sensor is also equipped with a walkway light. When purchasing, it will be based on the distance needed for your garage and/or aesthetic.

What kind of USB cable does the Parking Sensor need?

The USB cable is a basic micro-USB. This can be found where most cell phone chargers are sold.
